A modern classical rock piece for brass quartet and is semi-minimalist in nature. The Dark Alternative has no traditionally-conceived melody, but instead uses ostinatos and rhythms to paint the melody through homophonic riffs.
Composed by James McFadyen, this piece will suit ensembles of an advanced standard, and although by no means contemporary in nature by modern standards, The Dark Alternative will require players to read time signature changes and some complex part writing, as well as the ability to deliver a 'funky' performance.
