Hanken Road is a medium level, light hearted concert march for symphonic band. The title and song get their inspiration from the road that Thomas grew up on as a child. He remembers that there was always so much to do, as reflected in the various melodies heard throughout the piece. The key change at the end represents the many changes Hanken Road had under gone since he moved away over 30 years ago.
The instrumentation is that of a typical American middle school/high school level wind band. It is one of 4 pieces that Thomas has written in honour of his home town of Bound Brook, New Jersey.
