Les Constellations Obsolètes is a modern work for brass trio (Bb Trumpet, Horn in F, Trombone) depicting 4 obsolete astral constellations.

A suite inspired by obsolete constellations:

  • I. La Montgolfière (Globus Aerostaticus)
  • II. La Grive solitaire (Turdus Solitarius)
  • III. La Mouche boréale (Musca Borealis)
  • IV. Le Chat (Felis).

These constellations were cataloged by astronomers Jérôme Lalande (La Montgolfière, Le Chat), Pierre Le Monnier (La Grive solitaire), and Jakob Bartsch (La Mouche boréale). However, they are no longer recognised today, so they are referred to as “former” or “obsolete” constellations. Still, they are up there in the sky, visible to those who seek them.
